During the past week, members of the Society of Mountain Guides participated in a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) module designed for mountain guides. The module took place in the Făgăraș Mountains and was coordinated by Cosmin Andron (EEMGA), an IFMGA/UIAGM mountain guide. (EEMGA), ghid montan IFMGA/UIAGM.
Some of the topics covered during this CPD module included:
- Movement in moderate and complex terrain
- Transition efficiency in teams with one or two clients
- Organizing an introductory ice climbing workshop
- Aspects of communication and professional conduct in the field
Continuous professional development is extremely important for mountain professionals and is mandatory for SGLM members—both mountain guides and international mountain leaders. In this way, we ensure that all our members have up-to-date professional knowledge and are always prepared to provide the best experience for the tourists they accompany in mountain activities, both at home and abroad.
