In January, a professional development module (CPD) for hiking guides took place, focusing on avalanches, snow science, and avalanche rescue. The module was held in the Făgăraș Mountains and was coordinated by Hans Werner (DAV).
The topics covered during this CPD included:
- outdoor accident simulation, involving closed and open fractures
- snow profiling and compression tests
- avalanche rescue simulation, DVA (avalanche transceiver) search, and victim excavation
This CPD module follows up on the one organized in December, with topics specifically for mountain guides. Members of the Society of Mountain Guides and Leaders regularly participate in continuing professional development (CPD) modules, ensuring they provide the tourists they accompany on mountain activities with the best possible experience, through genuine and up-to-date expertise.
