internationally affiliated with <a href=\"https:\/\/uimla.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UIMLA<\/a>is opening registrations for a new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ghizimontani.org\/en\/formare-profesionala\/ghid-drumetie-lider-montan-international-iml\/\"><span>professional training course<\/span><\/a><span> for the (international) mountain hiking guide profession \u2013 International Mountain Leader, class of 2026-2028.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6>What does it mean to be an International Mountain Leader?<img decoding=\"async\" (<em>\"International Mountain Leader\" (IML) profession worldwide.<\/em>The International Mountain Leader (IML) is a professional recognized and qualified to lead, instruct, and provide support to tourists in mountain areas worldwide, regardless of season or altitude, up to the glacier line and outside areas that require technical equipment for progression.<\/p>\n<h6>What benefits do SGLM members have?<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Mountain hiking guides who are active members of SGLM benefit from a professional civil liability insurance policy <strong>, which covers potential damages<\/strong>caused by the guide's fault (malpractice), valid in Europe for activities carried out within the UIMLA standard. <\/span><span><\/span><span>This policy can be extended for members of the Society of Guides who have also completed professional training courses for mountain guides for activities within their competence (such as alpinism, rock climbing, or off-piste skiing) and is valid only in Romania.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>SGLM members benefit from <strong>health insurance<\/strong>, receiving compensation for the period during which they cannot exercise their professional activity due to an injury.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>SGLM members receive <strong>legal assistance<\/strong> from the association in the event of incidents requiring such support.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Upon graduating from the international modules, active members of SGLM become International Mountain Leaders, receiving the UIMLA card, based on <strong>which they can legally carry out their activity <\/strong><\/span><strong>legally<\/strong><span><strong>worldwide.<\/strong>(Note: <\/span><i><span>in some countries, there is an obligation to notify the authorities prior to carrying out the activity).<\/span><\/i><span>). <\/span><span>Additionally, graduates of the International Mountain Leader course can have their qualification recognized in other European countries if they move or primarily carry out their activity in those states.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>SGLM members benefit from continuous professional development courses <strong>(some mandatory, others optional)<\/strong> organized both with internal instructors and external instructors (UIAA instructors, UIAGM guides, university faculty) ensuring the maintenance and improvement of their level of competence and professional readiness.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>Admission Session<img decoding=\"async\" professional training course<\/h6>\n<p><span>The course takes place over 2 years (1080 hours) and consists of: <\/span><b>2 ani (1080 ore)<\/b><span> \u0219i const\u0103 \u00een:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>10 national training and evaluation modules, summer and winter, each lasting 5 days, finalized with the national diploma for mountain hiking guide specialization;<\/b><span>, de var\u0103 \u0219i de iarn\u0103, a c\u00e2te 5 zile, finalizate cu diploma na\u021bional\u0103 de specializare ghid de drume\u021bie montan\u0103;<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>2 international training and evaluation modules, summer and winter, optional, finalized with the UIMLA international qualification.<\/b><span>, de var\u0103 \u0219i de iarn\u0103, op\u021bionale, finalizate cu calificarea interna\u021bional\u0103 UIMLA.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Cost per module: 1500 RON.<\/b><span> 1500 lei.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>Training takes place both in different areas of the Carpathians and in mountain areas across Europe during the international modules.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6>Admission conditions<\/h6>\n<p><span>Admission to the examination session is based on the analysis of the registration file, according to the following criteria:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Minimum studies:<\/b><span> High school with a Baccalaureate diploma.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" 100vw, 386px\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>At least one international language<\/b><span> of wide circulation, proven by a language proficiency certificate.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Minimum national mountain experience<\/b><span> 40 <a href=\"https:\/\/ghizimontani.org\/en\/ce-reprezinta-o-zi-de-calitate-pe-munte\/\">quality days<\/a>, of which at least 10 are winter days.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>International mountain experience:<\/b><span> 15 quality days.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>General mountain knowledge,<\/b><span> proven by a multiple-choice test during the admission.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Physical aptitude in mountain terrain,<\/b><span> proven by a mountain tour during the admission.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The tourist guide certificate<\/span><span> is not required for admission. According to current legislation, in order to practice, you must obtain this certificate within the next 2 years, as mountain hiking guide is currently a specialization of it.
